Joanne Griffin is an Australian artist.
Following the completion of her Masters in Art from the University of NSW, College Of Fine Arts. Joanne quickly threw herself into the world of electronic and dance music. Her talents saw her producing unique visual content (or “music for the eyes” as Joanne calls it) for some of Australia’s leading musicians, festivals and promoters.
Under the guise of jmg13, one of her first gigs was producing and executing visuals for the big day out alongside her vj mentors who created visuals for the Horden Pavilion now legendary rat parties in Sydney during the mid-90s. Some 10 years later Joanne would again be vjing at another legendary Horden gig this time at fuzzy winter break, with an attendance of around 5500 people. In the last decade she has firmly established herself as one of Australia’s top three vjs, with experience as noteworthy and diverse as big day out tours to Mercedes Australian fashion week.
It’s not just at home that Joanne’s work is recognized. In 2004, she was one of approximately 60 vjs selected from around the world to work on the internationally renowned big chill festival in Eastnor, UK. During 2005 Joanne had a DVD of her recent photographic works on rotation at Westbourne studios in London.
Also within 2005 Joanne’s work was included with some of Australia’s key dance music releases. Her illustrations and artwork were featured within the CD booklet for beXta album conversations with ones and zeros, her animations were featured as a 60 minute bonus DVD disc to Pee Wee Ferris hard trance compilation, and she has co-directed and directed beXta film clips ‘Alien’ and ‘Make it phunkee’ and her photographic work was featured on the Ministry of Sound Kid Kenobi sessions.
From 2005, Joanne repackaged her creative direction to build the audio visual music media brand yokittyjo and focus on her acting career.
